With the holidays just around the corner, many of us are in full-swing vacation mode.
This means healthy eating and routine workouts may have gone out the window for a few days while we enjoy time with our loved ones and celebrate the festive season—and that's okay! Taking a short break from our everyday fitness routine can actually be beneficial to our minds and our bodies as long as we don't overdo the sugar and sedentary states (more walks please!). Instead, we can practice a few of our holiday health tips, including these ones about self-care, to ensure we're having fun and staying somewhat active over the upcoming vacations.
Additionally, we want to start thinking about the new habits we want to build in the new year (yes, even during Christmas vacay!).
Thinking about your health and fitness goals for 2023 right now can be a way of manifesting all the things to come, as well as preparing yourself mentally for change. When we think about our health and fitness goals now, we become more aware of our future selves and, as a result, make better health choices even while enjoying the holidays.
This isn't to say that you shouldn't spend your evenings with a drink in hand and with friends and family, of course. Please do! Rather that it's good to be mindful of where you're headed—and the path you want to be on. Who do you want to be in November of next year?
Meditating on these 2023 goals, whether it be fitness, health, or emotional wellbeing-related, even if only for a few moments, helps create a foundation for decisions over the holidays. It can also be a motivating factor when choosing whether to have another drink or two (or three). Perhaps you pause and choose to grab your water bottle instead. It can also help us get our butts in bed when presented with the chance to watch another movie late into the night. One is plenty!
Start making those healthy habit choices now to set yourself up for success in the New Year. Practice mindfulness, moderation, and positive health and wellness habits today, not on January 1. Trust us, you'll be so much happier that you did. And November 2023 you will thank current you.
Have you already started thinking about your health and wellness goals for 2023? We'd love to hear them! Share with us and the rest of the Vukoo tribe on Facebook or Instagram!
