Happy New Year everyone!
As we say farewell to 2016, we believe it’s important to reflect on the past year, as well as set goals for 2017.
To help with this, we have created a 2016 Reflection Guide to walk you through writing down past achievements, as well as future goals.
We hope this guide will remind you to celebrate your smallest and greatest achievements, while also setting even bigger goals for the New Year.
Instructions:You will need a notebook or a few pages of paper, as well as a pen and a quiet space to complete these reflections.
2016 Reflection Guide
Healthy Muscles.
How did you keep your body active and fit this year? Write down a list of 10 fitness changes you noticed in 2016, whether big or small. They can be as simple as “Choosing stairs over the elevator on a regular basis” or as big as “Losing __ pounds.” Every effort to better your health is important and worth celebrating, so make note of it! Spend some time reflecting on your list and thanking your body for all its hard work to keep you active and healthy. When you’ve finished, start a new list of 10 fitness goals for 2017.
Healthy Digestion.
What did you feed your body this year to improve your overall health? Start two lists: the first one is for 10 of your favorite whole-food meals and the second is for 10 new whole-foods you discovered. For example, did you try kale for the first time in 2016? Or maybe you fell in love with the health benefits of chia seeds? Make note of the positive food changes you made in your life, acknowledging your hard work and commitment to feeding your body real food. When you have finished, write a short paragraph about how you feel when you eat a whole food diet. How does your body respond? Hang the paragraph on your fridge as a reminder to continue JERF-ing in 2017.
Healthy Mind.
How did you feed your mind in 2016? What new books did you read? Create a list of 10 ways you improved your mind this past year. Once you finish, make note of what you learned and what you would like to learn more of in 2017. Write out 10 ways to meet these learning goals.
Healthy Sleep.
Reflect on your sleeping habits and patterns in 2016. What went well and how can you improve? Sleep is crucialto a healthy lifestyle; write out a list of 10 things you love about your current sleeping habits and 10 things you can improve.
Healthy Soul.
It can be easy to forget our soul, but finish your 2016 reflection time by thinking about how you nourished your soul in the past year. Did you spend enough time with family and friends? Were you able to get away for rest and time away in nature? Write a short paragraph about how your soul feels, in this moment. Finish it off with a list of 5 commitments to nourishing your soul in 2017. Hang the list somewhere you can see every day.
Remember to celebrate all of your hard work from this past year. Failures and shortcomings can often overshadow the positive changes we have made—don’t let that happen.
From all of us at the Vukoo team, we want to say thank you for being a part of our community. You are important and we wouldn’t be here without you. Here’s to 2017!
