With Memorial Day Weekend upon us, we wanted to share a few fun ideas to stay healthy and hydrated this weekend - especially since it is supposed to be in the 90s! You can also check out some of our past holiday and extended-weekend health posts for some quick reminders to keep your body, mind, and soul in their best shape!
1. Swap In Smoothies
If you haven't started blending up smoothies for breakfast already, now is the perfect time to start. Since Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial kick-off to summer (even though the first day of summer isn't actually until late June), we think smoothies are in order.
Not only are smoothies delicious and refreshing, but they are packed with so many foods and nutrients that are good for you.
2. Head to the Pool
Yes, you heard us right: it's supposed to be 91 degrees in Colorado Springs on Saturday. If you don't already have plans, we recommend heading to one of the city pools for a swim. Most open up for the season this weekend and, what is a better way to get in your weekend exercise than with a refreshing dip in the pool? Just make sure you actually swim a few laps to get your blood pumping. And don't forget the sunscreen!
3. Plant Some Flowers
For some mind and soul care this weekend, spend time planting a few flowers in your garden, or in small pots for your windows. Gardening has been proven to decrease stress and create a sense of calm. And flowers are an overall mood booster.
If gardening isn't your thing, opt instead for a few hours alone to read a book, or listen to music. Since this weekend is bound to be packed with activities and parties with friends, make sure to get a few moments alone for self-care.
