4 Workouts You Can Do With Your Dog

Does it ever feel like there aren't enough hours in the day? Maybe you find yourself having to choose between taking the dog for a walk or squeezing in a quick workout before dinner? Sometimes life can get busy--especially in the fall and during the transition of seasons. Fortunately, dog owners don't always need to choose between the gym and their furry friends though. By bringing your dog along for an outdoor adventure, both you and Fido get to workout and spend time together!

Here are a few of our favorite workouts to do with the company of our dog:

1. Hiking

Hiking is a great way to exercise alongside your furry friends, and Colorado is one of the best states to do it in! With so many trails that are fit for both you and your dog, exploring the mountains is a perfect way to stay fit, bond with your pup, and inhale some fresh air. Check out some of our favorite day hikes if you aren't sure where to go!

2. Running or Jogging

Before the weather in Colorado gets too cold (watch out for the snow in the forecast this weekend!), take your dog along when you go long-distance running or jogging. An especially good activity if your dog is high-energy and usually pulling their leash during walks, running alongside your dog is an excellent exercise for both you as well as for him or her!

3. Biking

If you like to bike for your workouts, you should definitely bring Fido along. Not only will you both get an intense workout in but, according to experts, biking with your dog may help him or her with focus and behavioral issues. Just use a Dog Springer while riding to keep you and your dog safe.

4. Playing Fetch

Feeling a bit under the weather or having a rest day? You can still get some exercise by playing with your dog in the park and throwing a ball for fetch. Instead of staying in one position while you throw the ball, move around or even race your dog to see who can retrieve the ball first. It's not necessarily a replacement for an intentional, planned workout, but it does get your blood flowing, your heart pumping, and your legs moving! Plus, is there anything more fun than playing fetch with your four-legged friend?
